WE ARE Digital Artisans

You won’t find mass-produced items here. Every model is 3D printed and then finished by hand, one at a time, so no two come out exactly alike. That’s the point: at Space Rocket Lab we still think craftsmanship is worth the extra hours.

HOW A MODEL IS MADE

Four steps, none of them automatic

Nothing here comes off a shelf. A model starts as a drawing and leaves as a finished object, and between those two points there are people.

  1. 01 Drawn from the real thing Every model is built from the vehicle's technical documentation. Panel lines, separation rings, fasteners: where they sit on the rocket is where they sit on the model.
  2. 02 Printed in the lab, in parts PA12 MJF and resin, on our own machines. A model leaves the printers as dozens of separate pieces, never as one block.
  3. 03 Cleaned and finished by hand Supports removed, surfaces sanded, graphics applied with UV inkjet instead of decals. This is the slow part, and it is the part that shows.
  4. 04 Checked, then packed Every unit is assembled and inspected before it goes in the box, by the same people who designed it. No two come out exactly alike.

Great care is put into these models. Contact is very personal. Keep in mind that a lot of work and manual labour goes into 3D modeling, yes even with printing. So be patient. This is not mass produced off the shelves stuff. I am proud of my purchase.

I am very happy with this model. The detail is excellent. Alex at Space Rocket Lab helped me through the purchase process all the way through assembly. Great people and great service. I will be buying more.

I am just astonished how every little intricate detail is captured. It is like I have the real Falcon Heavy in my home. I am a photographer and a space enthusiast, and a long time fan of SpaceX.

WHO IS BEHIND THIS

It started because I could not buy one

I am Alex Pepe. I started out as a software developer, with a long-standing passion for astronomy and launch vehicles. The models I wanted did not exist, so I began designing and printing them myself.

Space Rocket Lab grew out of that. Today it is a real laboratory: the same machines now build display models for the Italian Space Agency and Thales Alenia Space, and our models have appeared in the set design of the Fallout series.

Nothing here is mass produced, and nothing is ordered from a catalogue. If you write to us, the answer comes from the person who builds the models.

MORE ABOUT US

BEFORE YOU ORDER

The questions we get asked

Do the models arrive assembled?

It depends on the model. The pre-assembled ones arrive ready to display, with no glue and no paint needed. The kits come in parts with printed instructions, and the product page always says which is which before you order.

How long before it ships?

Every model is printed and finished to order, so the dispatch time is stated on each product page and depends on the model. Once it leaves the lab, shipping is tracked with GLS or UPS.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes, from Italy, everywhere. Shipping is calculated at checkout. Inside the EU there are no customs charges; outside, duties are set by your destination country.

What are they made of?

PA12 MJF and resin, depending on the part. Graphics are applied with UV inkjet rather than decals, so they do not lift or peel. The finishing is done by hand, one unit at a time.

Can I return it?

You have 14 days from delivery to return an order. If something arrives damaged, write to us with a photo and we sort it out.

Do you make commissioned models?

Yes. We build display models on commission for agencies, companies and museums, the Italian Space Agency and Thales Alenia Space among them. Write to us with what you have in mind.
